I am a 40 year old mom of two, Sam and Bella. I love to watch them wrestle. Crossfit is where I go to “have fun”!

2. When did you become a member at APC?*

Jan 14th, 2015

3. What made you join CrossFit?*

I wanted a stronger healthier version of myself.

4. What is your proudest CrossFit moment /achievement (PR, WOD, LIFT, ETC.)? *

Competing in the summer sizzler and getting toes to bar

5. What is you favorite/least favorite WOD?*

Chief is my favorite and my least favorite is anything with the echo bike aka satan’s tricycle

6. What are your short/long term goals?*

Getting dubs and stringing together pull-ups

7. What is something we might not know about you?*

I am scared of Seth

8. What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit?*

I was very intimidated when I started, but give it a chance and you will love it like I do!! We have amazing coaches and a supportive helpful community.

October’s Athlete of the Month is Joe Henry

1. Tell us a little about yourself.. (Age, Family, Job, Sports, Interests, ETC.) *
I am currently a senior at the University of Akron studying Financial Management . I just turned 23 years old in August. Outside of CrossFit, I participate in the UA Investment Club and Financial Planning Student Association. For work, I help my buddy James with his online business selling books on Amazon. My interests include boating, motorcycling & reading books about finance and investments.

2. When did you become a member at APC? *
May 9th, 2018

3. What made you join CrossFit? *
I wanted to lose weight and get into better shape. I asked Luke Smith where he thought I should start and he recommended CrossFit at APC!

4. What is your proudest CrossFit moment /achievement (PR, WOD, LIFT, ETC.)? *
My proudest moment is when I PR’d my deadlift at 365#

5. What is you favorite/least favorite WOD? *
My favorite WODs are anything with box jumps or rope climbs and the least favorite is Kelly. Pain, so much pain.

6. What are your short/long term goals? *
My short term goal is to be as consistent with getting to the gym this semester as possible while still maintaining all other obligations. Long term would be to get my back squat and deadlift over 400 #’s.

7. What is something we might not know about you? *
I love working on anything mechanical. I’ve rebuilt a couple of motorcycle engines for my own bike for fun and like to help my friends with their bikes as well.

8. What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit? *
Get with Amber and figure out a good dieting plan. That was one of the key parts to my success so far in CrossFit. Also, be consistent and get used to being sore!

September’s Athlete of the Month is Dreama Anderson

Tell us a little about yourself.. (Age, Family, Job, Sports, Interests, ETC.)
I am a divorce lawyer. I live in Sharon with my husband and two kids, Michael and Sydney. I will be 58 years young this month (September). Outside of CrossFit, reading and writing are my nerdy hobbies.

When did you become a member at APC?
June 2013

What made you join CrossFit?
Kathy Scheiman and I were doing a group personal training with Coach Nick when he took over the CrossFit program. He convinced us to join; I think he said it would be fun.😂

What is your favorite/least favorite WOD?
My favorite WOD is Murph. It is humbling to honor those who have and do serve our county.

What are your short/long term goals?
I want to work on my gymnastics movements and build more upper body strength. And, I want to string more then 9 dubs together.

What is something we might not know about you?
I had run nine marathons before my asthma worsened. Even though I struggle to breathe now, I actually love running

What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit?
CrossFit is the best gift you can give yourself,physically and mentally. Ask for help if you need it. APC coaches and our community are the BEST!

What is your proudest CrossFit moment/ achievement (PR, WOD, LIFT, ETC.)
I am most proud of being able to share CrossFit with my daughter Sydney Wonov.

Seth and I are truly grateful for you! Not only do you put in hours of hard work in the gym but the hours you spend helping us with all our competitions and volunteering every chance you get.. Thank you Dreama and we all Love you at APC.

August’s Athlete of the Month is Kristy Hayduk

Kristy started at APC, with her husband, Scott, in February of 2017. Although she was very nervous, she quickly caught on and became an asset to our community.

Recently, Kristy hit a 200lb back squat and can now string together kipping pullups. She looks forward to getting a bar muscle up and consistent doubleunders.

She loves APC for many reasons. One being the constantly varied, challenging workouts.
Interesting fact: she often laughs at her own jokes and she used to have “ho hos” and Mt Dew for breakfast everyday!!

Congrats Kristy! And thank you for helping to make APC so awesome!

July’s Athlete of the Month is Tricia Bauman

Tricia started APC (because her brother talked her into it) in May 2017. She was also sick of going to a boring gym and getting minimal results.

Her favorite aspect of being a member at APC is the supportive community and coaches.

Recently, she conquered both ropes! Doubleunders
and rope climbs! She hopes to master the rig very soon.

Interesting fact: Tricia makes a killer homemade gua­camole!! (We’re thinking you should bring some in so we can just be sure …. )

We love having you aboard! You have such an uplifting spirit and you always have a smile on your face. You encour­age every athlete around you and we are genuinely excited to see you in class! Keep up the great work Tricia!

Junes’s Athlete of the Month is Hilary Derr

Hilary had been a member of APC since 2012 (after the birth of her 3rd child). She has been active all her life and has run several 5ks, 10ks and even a few marathons, but after the birth of her 4th child, she got really serious about her fitness level (specifically CrossFit) and her strength and endurance skyrocketed.

To put it simply… Hilary is AWESOME! Obviously her work ethic and drive is outstanding, but she is also super gracious and supportive of all her fellow athletes. She is a privilege to coach as well as workout alongside. Recently, she hit a BIG PR on her power snatch… 125lbs!!! She hopes to get that up to 135lbs to go with a 175lb clean and jerk, real soon!

Thank you Hilary for all that you do to make our community so special!

May’s Athlete of the Month is Rochelle Ricciardi

Rochelle Ricciardi

I started CrossFit January 5, 2015 in one of the Couch 2 CrossFit programs. I remember it so well because I nervously stuffed my face with a Big Mac, large fry, and sushi three hours beforehand and nearly threw it all up doing burpees.

I never would have joined CrossFit on my own – I would still most likely be on the couch and 250+ pounds. My sister, Danielle, signed me up for Couch 2 CrossFit and told me she would do it with me – she lied. I was dropped off and she did the WOD in the room next door. Obviously, I ended up really liking it!

One thing I love about APC is how our coaches are attentive, always ready to help, give constructive criticism, and invested in their athletes. In addition, the community at APC is amazing; everyone is friendly and constantly cheering one another on.

A couple of the accomplishments that I am most proud of in the box are getting my dubs and handstand hold. Outside the box, I have finally hit 199 lbs. – I have not been below 200 in probably 8 years!

My most important short-term goal is to get a pull-up. My long-term goal would be to reach my goal weight and to become a more well-rounded athlete overall.

Something interesting/peculiar about me… I grew up on a tree farm. (I hate this question)

Hey everyone! It is official, APC is under new leadership. Carmen and Seth Hill could not be more excited for the opportunity to take APC to new heights. We are committed to making APC the absolute best it can be! We have been honored and humbled with the show of love and support from you all. Thank you to everyone who has trusted in us with a new membership or extension. We will not take our staff or our members for granted and we are eager to earn your trust and loyalty. You may have noticed some positive changes (around the gym) lately and you will see many more, soon. We are just getting started! The lines of communication are always open.
