Tell us a little about yourself.. (Age, Family, Job, Sports, Interests, ETC.) *
I am 59 years young(for a little bit longer) and I have been married to my terrific husband Randy for 35 years. We have 2 kids, Daniel and Kristin and a terrific daughter-in-law, Hollie. I am a Kent State graduate with my degree in accounting. I work part time as an accountant at my husband’s CPA firm. I love to travel. In recent years my husband and I have been able to travel to different parts of the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, several national parks out west, and take a Mediterranean cruise. I like to work outside in our yard -planting, weeding, mulching etc. it’s very therapeutic. I also enjoy reading.

When did you become a member at APC? *
May 15, 2015

What made you join CrossFit? *
My kids had started Crossfit about a year earlier and recommended that I try it. I didn’t think there was any way that a 10-20 minute workout could get me in shape but agreed to go to a Couch-to-Crossfit meeting with Kristin. There, I met Alex Hunt, I signed up for the 6 week program and was hooked.

What is your proudest CrossFit moment /achievement (PR, WOD, LIFT, ETC.)? *
There’s probably 2. The first was when after 2 months of trying to get double unders, I finally got 7-8 in a row. I was so excited and Alex came running over from the other side of the gym to congratulate me. The 2nd had to be when I finally got a legitimate bar muscle up this past year. Now I have to get strong enough(and confident enough) to try it in a WOD.
What is you favorite/least favorite WOD? *
My least favorite Wods are those with the bike and wallballs-they take me forever. My favorite wods have Dub’s like “Annie”. I’m actually starting to kinda like wods with pull-ups and toes-to-bar in them unless they have a huge # of reps.

What are your short/long term goals? *

I have several. Short term: handstand walks, stringing 5 c2bars together. Long term – 85 lb squat snatch Ring muscle up- Oh boy!

What is something we might not know about you? *
I love all kinds of music (maybe not rap). I’ve been in choir at church for over 18 years. I love to dance! I used to be a very good volleyball player(long time ago and definitely not the front row hitter).

What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit? *

1. You have have to give it a minimum of 3-6 months before you can evaluate your progress. Nick always says “trust the process” and he’s right. Change takes time and if you just look at it in one week increments you may not see much change. But I’ll guarantee that if you give it 3-6 months, you will see change -including strength, loss of inches, and confidence in yourself.

2. Don’t compare yourself to others. We are all different sizes, ages, and backgrounds. Just become a better version of you.

3. I know it can be a little intimidating at first. ( I had never picked up a barbell in my life before Crossfit). But the people at APC are really nice and glad you are here!

Congratulations Judy!! Keep CRUSHING it!!
